-Who's it for?

This course is designed for those with no experience of winter mountaineering. Previous winter walking experience is essential and if you have attended our 'Winter Skills' course then this course builds upon the skills learnt previously.

Course Aim

To introduce you to the skills necessary to tackle winter mountaineering routes at grade I.

On this course we will cover the following topics;

  • Avalanche Awareness & Assessment
  • Route Selection
  • Climbing Grades
  • Equipment Selection
  • Snow & Rock Anchors
  • Mountaineering Rope work

Our 2 day intro course covers the core skills necessary to tackle winter mountaineering routes. Our 5 day course covers the core skills in more detail so you gain an in depth understanding of there use and application in a wide variety of winter conditions and on a range of different routes.

All safety equipment, including ice axes and crampons, are provided free of charge.

Course Ratio

This course will be run at a maximum ratio of 1:2, therefore ensuring you receive the highest quality of instruction.

1:1 Ratio £410 - includes free ice axe and crampon hire.

1:2 Ratio £230 per person- includes free ice axe and crampon hire.
