Who's it for?

This course is designed for those wanting to learn how to 'lead' winter routes. Previous winter walking & mountaineering experience is essential and if you have attended any of our 'Winter Mountaineering' or 'Intro to Winter Climbing' courses then this course builds upon the skills learnt previously. 

Course Aim

To develop the ability to safely and competently lead winter climbs at grade II+.

Whats Covered?

During this course you will learn the necessary skills to be able to competently 'lead' winter climbs. Topics covered include; Winter Climbing Grades, Equipment Selection, Removal & Placement of rock/ice/snow gear, Rope Management, Belay Construction & Changeovers, Abseiling, Avalanche Awareness & Assessment, Movement Technique on Ice, Snow and Mixed terrain. 

All safety equipment, including ice axes and crampons, are provided free of charge.

Course Ratio

This course will be run at a maximum ratio of 1:2, therefore ensuring you receive the highest quality of instruction possible.

Course Price

1:1 Ratio £915 - includes free ice axe and crampon hire.

1:2 Ratio £525 per person- includes free ice axe and crampon hire.
