Who's it for?

This course is for those wanting an intro to the basic skills of Navigation, no previous experience is necessary. So whether your a seasoned walker who's after some formal instruction or someone who's looking at getting out and doesn't know where to begin this is the course for you.

This course can be upgraded to our two day Intro to Navigation Course. The first day is the same.

Whats Covered?

During the course you will learn all of the essential navigation techniques needed to be able to head out and follow routes in the countryside mainly on paths and tracks. .Throughout the day we'll aim to cover the following skills or techniques:

  • Map Scales, Symbols, Grid Sytem and Grid References
  • Compass Skills- taking a bearing and measuring distance
  • Pacing and Timing distances
  • Simple Navigational Strategies
  • Access- where you can and can't go walking
  • Equipment Selection

This course can be run with up to a maximum of six clients to one instructor.
