Who's it for?

This course is designed for those with no experience of winter climbing who wish to learn more about it and start taking their first steps towards becoming a winter climber.  Previous winter walking experience and summer rock climbing experience is desirable and if you have attended our 'Winter Skills' or 'Intro to Winter Mountaineering' courses then this course builds upon the skills learnt previously. 

Course Aim

To develop a solid foundation of core winter climbing skills so that you become a competent and self reliant second.

Whats Covered?

During this course you will learn the necessary skills to be able to competently 'second' winter climbs. Topics covered include; Winter Climbing Grades, Equipment Selection, Removal of rock/ice/snow gear, Avalanche Awareness & Assessment, Movement Technique on Ice, Snow and Mixed terrain. 

All safety equipment, including ice axes and crampons, are provided free of charge.

Course Ratio

This course will be run at a maximum ratio of 1:2, therefore ensuring you receive the highest quality of instruction.

Course Price

1:1 Ratio £410 - includes free ice axe and crampon hire.

1:2 Ratio £240 per person- includes free ice axe and crampon hire.
