Who's it for?

This course is for those wanting to learn the basic skills of Navigation, no previous experience is necessary.

Whats Covered?

The following skills and techniques are covered over the two day course: 

  • Map Scales, Symbols, Grid Sytem and Grid References
  • Compass Skills- taking a bearing and measuring distance
  • Pacing and Timing distances
  • Simple Navigational Strategies
  • Route Planning
  • Relocation Techniques
  • Access- where you can and can't go walking
  • Equipment Selection

This course covers all of the syllabus and is assessed to the standard of the Bronze (N.N.A.S.) National Navigation Award Scheme Award.
